BIOGRAPHY

Cora Sweeney’s artistic focus addresses the fleeting, transient aspects of the human experience by capturing moments in oil paint. Working from a mix of life, photographic reference, and study-based memory, Sweeney shifts from the kaleidoscopic range of ephemeral emotions, sights, and sensations in search of a common tether and thread of connection. Color remains a priority in the artist’s work, her paintings documenting and exaggerating the subtle shifts in value and light.

Their artwork has been featured in group exhibitions as a part of the Bakersfield Museum of Art Artworks program, The Rome Workshops, a two-person exhibition with the Tehachapi Valley Arts Association, as well as a solo show in the Gale Antakol Student Gallery at SJSU. Sweeney has discussed her painting process and education on the TehachaPod podcast. They graduated with a BA in studio art at San Jose University in Spring 2025 and will be attending the MFA program at Burren College of Art in Ireland.
